I’m getting over a rough case of COVID. I was very sick for about a week, and during that time, all studying and training were put on hold. Now that I’m starting to feel better, I’m ready to ease back into my routine — and I’ve decided to use this reset as an opportunity to run a little lifestyle experiment.
Up to this point, my personal discipline has worked because of a simple daily system:
This structure gives me purpose and clarity — two things essential to anyone living a goal-driven lifestyle. But there's something else I value deeply: football. I love watching the games, managing fantasy leagues, and being immersed in the season. So, while recovering from illness and needing more sleep, I saw a perfect chance to test a routine shift that includes more of what I love — without compromising my growth.
My self-discipline, goals, and daily routine exist to support a better life for me and my family. But I also believe in enjoying life now — not just after the goals are reached. At 54 years old, I’m not starting from scratch. I have a solid career and a potential retirement path in five years. But my pursuit of personal development isn’t about survival — it’s about intentional lifestyle design.
From now until October 4th, I’m testing a new daily routine that shifts my sleep schedule to accommodate late-night football while preserving the core structure of my day.
This isn’t about easing up — it’s about creating sustainable structure that allows me to integrate joy with progress. It’s still the Two-Pillar Life — just with a schedule that reflects what matters to me right now.
This is what growth looks like: adjusting the system, not abandoning it. Maybe I’ll go back to early wake-ups. Maybe not. But I’ll know because I tested it. That clarity is worth everything.
When you feel a pull to try something, try it with intention. Design it. Track it. Then decide. That’s how we build a life that’s disciplined, sustainable, and uniquely ours.
You feel like doing something? Do it. Find out. Then you’ll know.
